Really, there is no point in fighting these. When every party member would recieve 0 points from killing a low level critter, they shouldn't come after you any longer. I would like a relaxing stroll trough the newbie areas from time to time without having to swat flies!

They could make it like the devourers in pre: They leave you alone, but you can still kill em if you feel like it.

I was about to /sign this, but then I realized that a level 20 trying to help a low-level newbie through an area would actually get the newbie slaughtered, as everything would ignore the 20 and target the low-level instead.

I think you need to go back and read this part:

"When every party member would recieve 0 points from killing a low level critter, they shouldn't come after you any longer."

For a party full of level 20s, then they don't attack. For a party with a low level character, they attack.

They generally go after the character with lowest hit points anyway, so even if they only targeted the lowest level character that's still fairly consistent with what they're doing now anyway. But again, that's not what the request is saying.

I've been asking for this since I first played the game. I doubt they'll be willing to change the game behavior now. Mapping low level areas isn't hard or challenging, it's just annoying, so it does nothing to make the cartography titles more difficult to attain, just more aggravating.

Doesnt make any sense that they would suddenly decide to not attack you.

I dont care how low level that zombie is, hes still going to attack you.

level 1 ibolgas in Nightfall don't attack you.

The request is not unprecedented, but signed or not signed, I seriously doubt a.net is going to suddenly change such a major aspect of the game even if it's an easy one.

any enemies under level 3 don't attack unless provoked. What the thread is asking is make all enemies who will give zero experience to any member of the party non-aggressive. I.E. level 14 mobs vs a level 20 party. This may be a continuity problem, but it shouldn't be. You can run through mobs of mantids on Shing Jea, mobs of devourers in REgent Valley presear, etc. Saying this enemy will be more aggressive just because it's a higher level than that one...that doesn't make sense.

It's already in the game, just expand it.

Thing is, there are monsters that could kill you en masse that still give 0 exp.

we're NOT WoW, stop trying to make GW so much like it... (I hated that feature on WoW, and it, among MANY other reasons was why i started to hate it after only 2 days of playing it).

For the record, that happens anyway, since monsters prioritize their targets based on health and armor level among others, so the low level char is still #1 choice to go after.

Actually the armor level also effects things, making lower levels more of a target because their armor is reduced by their low level.

Sure, zombies might still attack you. But other things would run away, just like how many species of wild animal will attack the young but not adults of some of their prey.

And other monsters with instant-kill skills (urgoz warren comes to mind). So these ones would need to be exempt from the no-attack code.

Probably not worth the effort on ANET's part.

At least 4 million people favor WoW over Guild Wars (2 mill vs. 6 mill playerbase), that not taking into account those who only play GW because they're too cheap for monthly fees (<- me).
WoW is a better game. Guild Wars developpement is playing WoW all day anyway:
  • WoW gets Heroic Mode (or HM)
-> Guild Wars goes hard mode (or HM)
  • Bored aleady

signed. its only realistic, that when you had become much to powerful for such cheap low level stuff, that thoses monsters will fear you and won't attack, or even run away from you.

its the same behavior, we have, when we meet on enemies, which we know, that they are too strong for us, we won't attack them and when we got somehow dumberwise the aggro of a huge horde of enemies, we don't fight ... we FLEE

this behaviour should have monsters TOO

Gee...one example. Really slammed us there. Should I point out how WoW seemingly copied GW's arenas, or should we just leave it be and say that two dev teams ARE capable of coming up with the same systems and features without ripping each other off.

There's nothing special in WoW that hasn't been done before. It started out popular because 1) it had a huge budget, meaning it was very polished from the start, and 2) it was based on an existing franchise, which means there was already a massive community ready to play the game before anyone knew a thing about it. Huge community begets huge-r community in the MMO market. There's nothing about the actual game that makes it inherently better than anything else; if you were to take the same game, and change up the setting into something completely unknown, it wouldn't have done nearly as well as WoW.

I played WoW.. despised the high level... and the lack of groups in newb areas...

Back on topic.. /not signed simply because there are more significant things Anet needs to fix first

Hmm... you actually hated that feature? I never played WoW, but I used to play EverQuest almost a decade ago, and they had that feature since its introduction. Most (but not all) of the enemies who were considerably weaker than you would just ignore you or have a smaller aggro radius unless you did something hostile. Most enemies would also run away if you hurt them enough.

I LOVED that feature. Going from one place to another was at lot less of a hassle because of it.

Now, in Guild Wars it's a bit different; you can teleport to where you want to go, whereas you couldn't in EverQuest. You literally had to walk / take a boat. Still, in Guild Wars I find myself so sick of fighting sometimes when all I really want to do is go turn in that damn quest to that bastard who thought he should hang out in the wild where annoyingly easy monsters roam. When the enemies are that easy, it's just a chore to kill them, not a pleasure.

reason: if the mops stopped auto attacking then it would put certain classes that WANTED to kill them at a disadvantage.

example: a vengful rit would no longer be a viable class to farm low level creatures.

No I'm not a bot farmer but sometimes I do enjoy going on a relaxing farm run.
